✿ Our story
Built with love, for parents
Spectrum Path exists because the internet had everything about autism except a place that felt like being understood. So we built one — for the parents who will fill it with each other.
Where this began
An honest word from the founder: I am not the parent of an autistic child. This site began with three conversations. I was sitting in an airport lounge in Dubai with a colleague from South Africa who told me about his two children with autism — and his ambition to one day build a site where parents could connect and support each other. Then I sat with friends in New York who spoke of the same dream, a website for parents of children with autism, that they'd never been able to get off the ground. And then with good friends in Nassau, where I live, whose young son is autistic — who told me that their best source of knowledge, comfort and the right answers had always been other parents walking the same path.
Three cities, the same wish. I felt it was time to try and make it happen. So I built the structure — the mosaic that connects similar paths, the rooms, the shelves, the guardrails. Everything inside it — the wisdom, the stories, the answers — comes from parents, and always will. I keep the lights on; parents make it home. — Carter M., founder
What we are
A non-profit, parent-led community for families raising autistic children — founded by a friend of families who live this, powered entirely by the parents in it. Vetted information, real stories, honest conversation. No borders — families from every country are welcome.
The founding charter
Three promises, made permanent. They are the constitution of this place — if we ever break one, hold us to it publicly.
What we are not
- Not a business. 100% non-profit. No ads, no algorithm, no shareholders, no data sales.
- Not a therapy promoter. We don't endorse or champion any therapy — parents share what helped their family, and you decide with your professionals.
- Not an engagement machine. Nothing here is designed to keep you scrolling. Tribes and quiet alerts replace the algorithmic feed. Come, get what you need, go live your life.
Accountability
Every year we publish a public accounting of every dollar received and spent. Our budget has three lines:
- Hosting — servers, database, security.
- Editorial — the curated newsfeed pipeline and verification of directory submissions.
- Community — trained parent moderators, our largest line, because kindness at scale takes people, not software.
Support the mission
Spectrum Path is free for every family, forever. Under our founding charter, every donation goes to exactly two things: running this site and reaching more families so they can benefit from it too. Nothing else. If it's helped yours and you can afford to help the next one, here's what giving looks like:
$5/mo
A coffee — keeps the lights on
$15/mo
Friend — funds the newsfeed
$30/mo
Sustainer — supports a moderator
$75/mo
Champion — carries a whole group
One-time gifts, international wires and SEPA payments, corporate matching (we provide employer documentation), and foundation partnerships are all welcome — get in touch.
Privacy & data
- Founding-charter promise: your data is strictly private and will never be shared or sold — to anyone, for any reason. It exists only to serve this community.
- Community content is protected by database-level security: only registered parents can see it, and private messages are readable only by the two people in them.
- You control what other members see. Anonymous participation is a first-class option, not a workaround.
- Export or delete your data any time, in two clicks.
- Children's privacy is protected by hard publishing guardrails with no exceptions.
